Group Instrument Classes

Do Re Mi for Fun (1 to 3 years old)
This class is a preparation for our Group Instrument Classes. In this class, we introduce hands on instruments, body movement, sing along songs and rhythm games through social interaction. This class is a fun, active way to introduce children to music that sets them up with a memorable foundation so that they are excited to continue with music as they grow!

Do Re Mi for Piano - Level 1 (3 to 4 years old)
Can a 3 year old child really learn how to read the notes, clap the rhythm patterns and play piano? The answer is YES. Our program is very successful in teaching the fundamentals of music to children as young as 3 years old. Our Level 1 class will cover a variety of new activities including introduction to musical vocabulary, keyboard geography, solfege singing, basic note reading including note values and rhythm patterns, and adding musical games and stories about famous composers. A keyboard is provided for each student for the duration of the class. Students will cover Do Re Mi Musical Medleys Book 1 and CD Vol 1.

Do Re Mi for Piano - Level 2 (Continuation of previous Level)
This class focuses on expanding students' musical vocabulary and keyboard geography. Students will study playing in the treble and the bass clef which will give them a great foundation for coordinating both hands while being able to read both treble and bass clef at the same time.
Students will cover Do Re Mi Musical Medleys Book 2 and CD Vol 2.

Do Re Mi for Piano - Level 3 (Continuation of previous Level)
Keyboard Orchestra ~
It often happens that after completing Level 1 and 2, students are eager to continue but are not really ready or interested in private lessons and that is where the Keyboard Orchestra element comes in. It is designed for young musicians who'd like to jam with the group. Through repertoire of popular songs, students will learn different piano styles such as classical, jazz, blues and pop while playing together as an ensemble. We will continue to learn how to play with both hands simultaneously, further expanding our ability to play melody and accompaniment at the same time. As well as continuing the “do, re, mi” solfege method, we will introduce using letter names to identify the notes.

Do Re Mi for Voice (Minimum age 4 years old)
What do students at preschool age learn in the group voice class? Isn’t it too early, you may ask? For serious vocal technique, music theory, choral arrangements, yes it is too early. But, there are numerous benefits that this class provides to children at such young age.

We choose a repertoire of songs that are fun and enjoyable (Beatles, Marvin Gay,  movie soundtracks... as well as children songs). The arrangements are fun and age appropriate and therefore easy to follow. Warm up exercises I carefully chosen to emphasize ear training, rhythm awareness and pitch recognition. We choose wordy songs where memorization of lyrics becomes a great brain exercise.  Mp3s and lyrics sheets are sent to parents with step by step instructions on how to practice memorizing the songs. Performances (usually twice a year) will create a memorable and safe environment for children to experience fun of being on the stage.

So if your child loves to sing and loves to entertain the family and friends at home, join us for our Do Re Mi for Voice Class. Your child will have a blast and so will you.

This class is currently offered as part of the enrichment program in collaborating preschools ONLY.

Do Re Mi for Ukulele (Minimum age 5 years old)
Why the Ukulele? Well, as small as it is, it is a real instrument that kids don't have any trouble holding, handling and playing. Because of its size, finding frets, strings and playing basic chords becomes manageable and very enjoyable for 5 year olds. Besides strumming patterns and basic musical theory, we will be learning favorite children's songs that are fun and easy to grasp. Students will cover Ukulele Adventure in Hawaii - Book and CD.

The book is coloring story with music theory sections teaching five different chords, note values, strumming patterns and playing melodies on the first string. The CD contains 11 traditional songs that blend together with the storyline.

Do Re Mi for Guitar (Minimum age 6 years old)
Get ready to jam with our fabulous new class,  Do Re Mi for Guitar!  Kids ages 6 and up will learn how to rock out by learning new chords, strumming patterns, how to fingerpick, and the history of rock and roll!  We will take a trip down memory lane by learning famous tunes by the Beatles, Chuck Berry, and other famous legends.  Whether your child has taken Do Re Mi for Ukulele and is ready for more of a challenge, or whether guitar is his or her first musical experience, kids will surely love Do Re Mi for Guitar as we explore the fun, popular side of music, while still focusing on important fundamentals such as theory and rhythm.   So grab your six string and hop on board, as this new class will fill up soon!
